Tron Talk

I promised a big update, and I was NOT kidding :)
Here are a few maps, plenty of news, new links, URL's, sites, reworked old reviews, and a job opportunity. And... I'm not done yet! Stay tuned, as I promise even MORE reviews to be posted either later to day, or sometime tomorrow. I get lazy once in a while, but I come back strong! Enjoy it folks...

Quadropolis by Marsellus is posted with a 68 rating.

Liger's Domain by Andy is posted with a 69 rating.

Ocassionally I revisit a map which I rated early on in my career and I feel was treated a bit unjustly. This time I dug up a map from back in May 1998 by author Kneel, and then went even farther back into the archives (March '98!) and re-evaluated Versicolored Vermination by author Roger Staines. The reviews got an overhaul, which I feel more accurately reflects their quality.

Pharm by Kneel is revisited with an 82 rating.

Versicolored Vermination by Roger is revisited with an 85 rating.

Spq2 News

Heeeeeeee's Baaaaaack! After a brief vacation, the reknowned Eric (Igor) Sutton (who crafted the great graphics for this very site) is back at his mysterious Hotel, just in time for halloween. If you've been there before, you'll be happy to see the site is right back to it's original standard of quality, and if you've never been there, then I highly recommend you head on over and see what the master of Photoshop can do! Visit the Quake Map Hotel, Igor will leave the incinerator on for ya.

Morgan Parry's Spq2 review site has move to a new location! He is now hosted by So, go check out the new home for Ten Four. Congrats Morgan, use your space wisely!

There is yet another new Spq2 site on the scene, this time it's the appropriately named Dave's Quake2 Review. Go and say hi to Dave!

Texture artist needed!

If you are a texture artist and desire to work with a very high quality group of individuals, then head over to the Fugue or the Fugue State and take a look around. You'll want to mail Guf, the man in charge. I personally am a part of the Fugue State, where I work as a beta tester. Believe me, there is a lot of talent and creativity going on there, and this is an exceptional opportunity for someone with a little patience and a lot of desire. I've seen the projects currently under construction and I'm very excited about them.

Interviews Galore

Be sure to head on over to Katalystic Media and check out Kneel's interview series which features Akuma, crash, Igor, Guf, and many others (even your old pal Tron). Kneel put us all to the test in Phase 1 of his interview series, and there's plenty to read. Also - his hilarious Yello There (a spoof on BluesNews) has been updated a few times lately - and Kneel has screenshots and news about the new Quake2 mission pack: Zaero. Katalystic Media is quickly becoming a fun place for the Spq2 community to hang out, so stop by and say hello to Neil... oh, and while you're there be careful not to step in the Dennis doo-doo.

Link - No Link - Link?

A few readers have been flogging me about the head with large pink fluffy bunnies (artificial of course, no real animals are ever hurt during the production of this website) and chanting evil things at me because a few of my links have gone bad over the months I've been maintaing this place. Here on the Edge it's tough to keep my balance at all times, and I thank them for pointing these things out to me. All reported links have been fixed. And now a plea... please, please O kind visitors, I beg of you to help me. It is a massive task to keep things together here at the Edge, and I ask that if you ever come across a broken link, just drop me a quick email, and I will always fix it within 24 hours of getting the mail - usually within an hour or two.

I have plenty of news and new maps, and I'm still here and alive - sorry for the delay. Stay tuned.

Spq2 Utility

Ever get an "ERROR: *Index overflow" message while playing Quake2?? Want to learn what it means? Or even download a utility that will help you read .MAP files, and produce lists of all entities. This is valuable reading for any Spq2 fan, and an incredible benefit to map authors of the world. David Hyde and Tony Ferrara are the two madmen behind this new tool, and they had help from the creators of Ground Zero and Reckoning while they researched this tutorial/utility. Go and visit the site at this location and read all about it, and be sure to drop some mail to the guys who worked so hard to produce this comprehensive guide to a perplexing problem.

Katalystic Media

I'm really enjoying the heck out of Kneel's new site: Katalystic Media. The Yello There spoof on BluesNews is a riot, and the fake map reviews, game editorials, and Moments in Gaming History make for a lot of good reading and plenty of laughs. Go and give a visit!

To my brother Jason, and his new bride Veronica! They were married October 3rd, and I had the honor of being the best man. This was the fourth wedding I've attended in my life, and the most fun by far. In the picture below, you can see who got all the good looks in my family, and as for Veronica - she looks even better in person :)   Again, congratulations Jason! I couldn't be happier for the two of you.

Appy Polly Loggies

I've been extremely busy of late, due mostly to the reasons mentioned above... weddings can take up a lot of time, even when you are not the one getting married! No new reviews are ready at this time, but I hope to be back on track soon.
