MINUSES SUMMARY
Asteriod Base has you investigating the most heavily fortified Imperial Base in the entire Empire. This is a 3 map set that has a nice little story backing it up, but focuses mainly on the action element of gameplay. I sort of liked these maps because I got a feeling that the authors really had an ambitious project in mine, I got the impression that they were really trying to make a cool product. There is fun to be had, if you like plenty of action in your game of JK. You are given enough weapons and ammo to defeat a small army and then are asked to do just that. It is fast paced and keeps you moving. On the down side, the action is quite crude, using unimaginative enemy placement. The theme is, dump a lot of baddies in one area (see pic.) as opposed to clever and creative placements, taking you by surprise. There are a few other little gripes, some HOM, have 2 red keys appear, when you only need one, and a generally unpolished feel to the maps overall. It is a nice bit of action, and there's fun to be had, and at 64K, you cannot ask for more.
