MINUSES SUMMARY
This is a decent little 4 map Unit. The idea is to make a pit-stop on the way to Stroggos to take out a small installation. The first map is way too easy, with plenty of health, ammo, and armor to spare. Fortunately the following maps get tougher, jacking the challenge up to a level that even frustrated me a bit (yay!). The next map, the Prison, is kind of a mixed bag. It starts off strong, with great Strogg placement, and good item placement, but get simple and boring towards the end of the sequence. The Landing Facility was my favorite map. Most of your time is spent in a large arena, with great action that utilizes excellent Strogg distribution. The action is non-stop and very challenging. And as a bonus, just when you think you've taken out the Strogg... reinforcements arrive in a creative fashion. A 'secret' level, the tounge-in-cheek Yaku-Strogg Temple, is a fun diversion, providing a good challenge in a fun little map. The architecture, and lay-out are very basic throughout, and leave much to be desired. Texture use is very repetative, yet has a good clean look. Some detail work, and added angularity could have spiced the Unit up greatly, and drawn in the eye a bit more. Overall... the Unit is very basic, and has a beginners feel to it, yet it has a certain appeal to it that makes for a good play.
