MINUSES SUMMARY
Chris the Titan (odd name) is a map which presents some good action and challenge, and in a few areas displays creativity in both lay-out and architecture. The map is huge, sprawling out across a great area, although it is very horizontal and rarely reaches upward. Texture use is very repetitive, but not unattractive, although many textures were either underlit, or not lit at all, leading to a several areas that are difficult and frustrating to explore. The lay-out is rather well done, it keeps the player moving and shows signs of creativity. Architecture is mostly quite bland and blocky, though once again, there are a few exceptions here and there. My favorite room featured staircases flanking each side, and a cool suspended platform. The room was unique in design and a pleasure to admire. The action is good at times, but with the huge sprawling map, there is a lot of free time between fights. That might not be so bad, but for the fact that the vast majority of the map is unadorned and not much to look at. Empty hallways and rooms, which are mostly square and do not draw the eye of the player. Major complaints include: fighting three Mutants in shallow water, making it extremely difficult to move quickly enough to fight them fairly, the fact that you only get a Machinegun and a Rocket Launcher (and too few rockets), and that every Strogg you face drops bullets (even Mutants and Berserkers) whether or not it is logical. The main bug in this map, is that near the very beginning of the adventure you encounter an opening which gives the familiar computerized beeping and the on-screen message informs "You need the Red Key". The problem is that you do NOT need the red key, and can go right past the doorway and exit the map while only playing 20% of it. This caused a large deduction of points. All told, the map shows some promise and potential, but needs a major overhaul to be a quality playing experience.
