MINUSES SUMMARY
Hear ye! Hear ye! This level is the pinnacle of the Single Player Quake2 experience! By the time I finish this summary, EraserX is gonna think I'm writing him a love letter, but here it goes... The level starts in a large outdoor canyon area, which is nicely done, giving a distinct impression of spaciousness. Right off there's a clever bridge contraption, and a nice looking elevator shaft to oogle. Making your way through the base area, you'll find yourself admiring a host of creative architectural details that are unique, and subtle. Visually, EraserX is a pro, from the lay-out, to the architecture, to the clever contraptions and use of lighting, let there be no doubt - he will amaze you. But... looks ain't everything, and this level would pass without them. Gameplay rocks... plenty of minor skirmishes, and a fistful of all-out, fight for your life brawls. You will be kept on your toes: health is placed perfectly, and you'll need every drop. Prepare for explosive surprises, and startling attacks (I actually jumped 2 or 3 times in surprise while playing through this!). I have but one minor complaint... no story here. It would've been easy to use the crystals, which appear everywhere, and are apparently being mined/used by the Strogg. Even a little bit about them and what's going on would've added a boost. That aside (and it's a minor thing), this level is the best Spq2 out there right now. Congratulations Mr. X, have you filled out that id application yet ;)
