MINUSES SUMMARY
Ten'Rak Monestary is a follow up to Capp's previous effort 'Rajal Castle'. The story picks up nicely, offering a sense of continuity to those who have played Rajal. Much like Rajal, the map starts off with a strong opening sequence of Translator messages, giving the player a strong sense of story and purpose. However, soon the story all but disappears, until a small addition near the mid-point of the map. The action element of gameplay is really well done. Aliens are placed quite well, though never actually appearing unexpectedly and surprising the player, they are chosen well, spaced wonderfully, and provide and excellent challenge. The placement of weapons and ammo compliment the enemy placements well, giving the player just the right amount of items, just when you need them. Health was well placed until near the end, when there was a bit more than needed for me. The architecture and lay-out were a bit bland with mostly square areas and few ornamental touches. There were occasional nice courtyards, and a nice little side-room or two, but the main bulk of the map had little flair, and didn't draw my eye to it. A few gripes include: two missing textures - both at the base of stairways, an area in one of the pillar lined halls with a cipping error - so that I could not enter the corner of the hall, and a general lack of extras. All in all, a good solid experience, but a few scripted events, some more risk taking in architecture and lay-out, and a bit more attention to story could really have push it over the top. Well worth the download for the quality action alone.
